Course Description
This class is devoted to an in-depth assessment of caloric response. In particular, we shall cover canal paresis (uni- and bilateral), directional preponderance, vestibular areflexia, and the fixation test.
Learning Objectives:
- To learn to differentiate an abnormal canal paresis and how to diagnose a unilateral areflexia by performing the ice water test
- To understand the meaning of directional preponderance
- To learn how to diagnose bilateral vestibulopathy based on caloric test results
- To recognize central abnormalities on caloric testing
